Prosonic Flow W 400: Read Diagnostic Messages
Flowmeter Diagnostics
On the Prosonic Flow W 400 HART, open the diagnostic message's remedy information and record the full code, short text, service ID and occurrence time. Then distinguish the current event from previous or other pending events before selecting a check.
Match the instrument and manual
This reference is for Proline Prosonic Flow W 400 HART, manual BA02086D/06/EN/01.21, valid from firmware 01.00.zz. Match the model, communication version and firmware first. The official W 400 product page links to Device Viewer for device-specific documentation. An I 400, a Prosonic Flow 91 or another communication version needs its own applicable instructions.
Read the message in context
The display separates the status signal, three-digit diagnostic number, short text and diagnostic behavior. Its normal diagnostic screen shows the highest-priority pending event; it may not be the only one. See message interpretation, pages 128–129.
From the diagnostic message, press +, select the event with + / −, then press E to open its remedy information. Record the service ID and occurrence time too. Illustrated display sequence, page 130.
| Information to distinguish | Where to look |
|---|---|
| Current message | Diagnostics → Actual diagnostics |
| Message preceding the current one | Diagnostics → Previous diagnostics |
| Other pending events | Diagnostics → Diagnostic list; up to five are displayed, prioritised if more are pending |
Keep the signal path and direction
For example, diagnostic 104 concerns a sensor signal path; 105 identifies the downstream transducer, while 106 identifies the upstream transducer. Preserve any path identifier in the displayed message. These are separate entries, not interchangeable names for weak coupling. Official entries, page 134.
Copy this short handover record:
- Model, communication version, firmware and matching manual revision.
- Full displayed message, path identifier, service ID and occurrence time.
- Whether the entry is current, previous or another pending event.
- Process conditions when it appeared and any changes already made.
Use that record to select the matching remedy with the plant's authorised instrument specialist. This is a diagnostic-reading guide, not a component replacement instruction. Do not treat a search snippet as a complete code or clear evidence by resetting the device before recording it.
